Overview
With one season of How Is That Legal? out in the world, we re-assembled the production team to take stock of what worked well and what needed to be improved. These discussions informed our approach to producing the second season of the podcast. We made small adjustments to the show’s format and worked with the host to make How Is That Legal more compelling and reach an even wider audience.
The Results
Season 1 of How Is That Legal? launched in June, 2022 with the help of producer Jake Nussbaum. It included conversations about how systemic racism is embedded in our child welfare system, housing policy and Medicaid with guests including Professor Dorothy Roberts, Bishop Dwayne Royster and Attorney Rasheedah Phillips. After season 1, there was still a huge list of activists, advocates, and civil attorneys that we wanted to talk to so CLS and Rowhome renewed their partnership to produce a second season of How Is That Legal? Season 2’s guests include State Senator Nikil Saval, social justice lawyer and storyteller Sofia Ali-Khan and accomplished law professor Erika K. Wilson.
